Great point about creating articles and blogs. The population who rely on mainstream media to provide news are becoming skeptical by the day...as it is clear they're agenda based.

Secondly, Muslims should also particpate in providing online feedback on articles, similar to the comment I am typing now for the Niche Hero video. This is another form of tackling biased opinions.

  4. What holding me from starting news paper is this

    1) Lets say i want to publish a true story about a Rape in Town to show how western society culture is .. would not be treated as "spreading evil ".. ?

    2) Same if i have to publish the wrong doing of a Leader Muslim, Non-Muslim all together , would not it be treated as "Spreading Evils/Munkar again "?

Please give answers of above and as soon as i got the Answers i will kick start the Newspaper ..

  7. AA,
Brother, this is something that I have been wanting to do (Get involved in media to spread the truth about Islam) for the past few years. I know and am very close to one of the Muslim leaders of my community. The only problem is this, where to start? I want to start and be successful in this kind of project, but I truly am not sure where to start. Any ideas? Wa'salaam.

  8. That's very interesting. Okay so I have recently started a blog and I want to see how things go and where to take them.

I want to write motivating articles for the du'aat.. Not sure where to take it from or what to do, but now that I have started, I hope the path becomes clear with time.

And I agree with Perfect Acumen.

A Tip: For those who have issues with writing/brainstorming, perhaps commenting on articles and taking it from there would help. Yes, a whole article could sprout from a single comment of yours or someone elses. Just give it a try!

  9. JazakAllah khair. This was something I've been thinking about recently. More along the lines of youtube vids though. My excuse would be not enough time in the day but it is not really a legitimate excuse. May Allah make us among those who protect and preserve this religion. Ameen.

  10. Shukran for posting this Br. Muhammad. A group my friend and I have started is similar to this which tackles the problem of an inaudible Muslim voice in the media. Our blog is part of the Muslim American Society's Media Project. Please visit our blog at www.muslimyouthfortruth.blogspot.com.

We also encourage young Muslims to start getting in the habit of writing letters to the editor. It's amazing how simple, yet effective it can be :)

  11. As salaamu alaykum!
Shukraan, Br. Muhammad, for hammering this on us.

In addition to getting involved in having our own media houses full of quality and not just quantity, we also need to get into the habit of READING. For real, Muslims in this 21st century are literate yet illiterate.
Our Rabb commands us to READ in he Qur'an but a majority of us especially those of us in the West, do not care to read for various excuses and reasons. Yes, we might read for a temporary exam, and read to get promotion at work. But when it comes to reading in order to have sharp intellects and be able to beat the odds in this day and age, we are a " no no".

Just my two cents. And this is what I have witnessed for the past few years.
